Private Lesson Studio

“…although many people say that music lessons didn't take, cognitive neuroscientists have found otherwise in their laboratories. Even just a small exposure to music lessons as a child creates neural circuits for music processing that are enhanced and more efficient than for those who lack training. Music lessons teach us to listen better, and they accelerate our ability to discern structure and form in music, making it easier for us to tell what music we like and what we don't like.”
Daniel J. Levitin, This Is Your Brain on Music

Philosophy

Singing is an art form and success is a joint effort between singer and teacher.  The ability of the singer to study, practice, listen, attend performances, compete, and perform facilitates progress and success.

Expectations

I primarily teach high school and college students intent on performing careers.  However, adult singers wishing to coach or maintain vocal stamina are welcome.

I am a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS.org).

My students have moved on to Broadway tours, summer stock, TV, and film as well as universities and graduate schools across the country. This aspiration requires a high level of commitment to practicing and preparation. Regardless of aspiration, I focus on technique and musicality.  The following information may be helpful:
